At Gerhart Stamping we specialize in high volume precision die stamping. The component shown here was designed for use as an edge card contact in a low profile connector for a stop light system. We are contracted by this client to produce 13 million of these components annually. A run of this volume requires high speed stamping capabilities; production was performed utilizing a reel to reel system. This provides some of the high speed aspect and also allows for selective gold plating. The connector is composed of .007” thick, CA521 phosphor bronze, and required tolerances of ±.003” throughout the production run. Our processes employ various quality control measures including a vision system, certified calibrated micrometers, and an optical comparator. Deliveries are made to this customer based on purchase order release dates, all which include applicable Material Certifications and Certificate of Conformance.
